Party Preps: 1st Birthday Celeb Venue, check!

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

We've gone ahead and made the reservation for Timezone Eastwood's Party Place as the final venue for Joaquin's 1st birthday party in a few months -- that's one birthday to-do, down. Obviously, this is the first kiddie party I've ever planned, so I'm a little anxious but excited about how things will fall into place. All we had to start with was a budget and a guest list.

Since we have no specific theme, as Joaquin is too young to have personal preferences on colors or characters or costumes, I've decided we can settle for a generic little boy's party. We had mentally short listed some fast food restaurants that cater to kiddie parties: Shakeys and McDonald's, mainly because the preps would've been easier since they'd cover everything including venue, food, decor and program. This bead initially appealing since all we'd had to do was discuss some details like timeslot & number of guests, pay, and just show up on the date itself.

But then I learned about Timezone having a venue for parties and this was perfect for us for the following reasons:

1) Timezone has 2 branches that offer this service: Glorietta & Eastwood. The one in Eastwood is a midpoint location for us & all our expected guests.

2) A program w/ the usual parlor games has become a super common part of children's parties already. Just to do something a little different, Joaquin's young (& even the young-at-heart, I bet) guests can play unlimited* games for a whole 2 hours - hence, no need to hire hosts/magicians anymore & all kids would still enjoy!

We chose the 2-hour rate for the Fun Package 2, which automatically included the invitations that were handed to me when I paid the minimum P2,000 reservation fee. Since the set only included 20 pieces of invitation by default, I just asked for additional which cost P5.00 each.

Timezone has a list of partner fast foods which can take care of your guests' dining during the event, but you will have to coordinate with the restaurants separately. At the time we made the reservation, we were told only McDonald's, Max's and Burger King were in that list. If you have another caterer in mind besides these, you only have to pay an additional P1,000 corkage fee. We chose McDonald's since we don't know anyone who wouldn't eat off their menu, plus the branch partnering with Timezone is right beside it, so it would be easier to transport should we need additional food. Here's a copy of the current prices McDonald's offers for their party food packages:

So at this point, I have yet to send out invites to see how many would RSVP so we can estimate the number of food orders. I'll also be getting decor services since Timezone only has a few balloons set up in the area so I'm looking to have more color; and a candy buffet sounds great to have another party feature since we're taking out the main program. Lots to do, but thankfully we have more than enough time. Stay tuned!
